Obama on Afghanistan

This evening, President Obama gave a speech on the situation in Afghanistan and his upcoming plans.

Two problems with this speech:

1-Where is the mention of "victory"? We fight wars to win, not to appease the international community and the president's political base. The United States military is the most organized, pre-eminent force in the world, and to hand off leadership and decision-making to NATO, while letting the base influence this decision, over the generals, is suspect. The US Military will bring about victory and they must be in it to win it!

2-When a timeline is announced, the enemy will simply wait it out, then attack and advance after the Americans have left. If that occurs, we will see a repeat of Saigon 1975, but much, much worse!

Sadly, the president thought less like a Commander-in-Chief and more like a politician wanting his second term and needing to get the radical, anti-war left on board for 2012. If I'm a general who gave advice the president didn't accept, I'd resign! It is very troubling when a leader makes a decision based on his/her own power over the lives that decision will be affecting; in this case, members of the US Military, their families and the Afghan people who have openly fought for freedom that will be slaughtered if the Taliban ever comes to power again.

Note to Democrats: This Economic Situation is NOT FUNNY!

I'd like to make a suggestion to Democrats: don't make light of the economic situation in which you put this country!

This all started out with President Obama in his attempt to make a funny about his failure of a stimulus. It continued today with Jay Carney's attempt at humor.

I like a good joke as much as the next guy (and I found the Dalai Lama joke to be in better taste), but unemployment and America's sorry economic situation is not a funny thing. While people are struggling to find work (and those lucky enough to have work are struggling to keep their jobs), it's rather insensitive to crack jokes about a situation which was caused by Obama's and the Democrats' policies that put the Federal Government before job creation in private industry; the true driver of the economy.

Another item we hope voters remember in 2012.

Weiner...OUT!

As a result of preparing for my vacation, as well as the fact of a self-imposed semi-media blackout (Semi as a result of everywhere I turned while away, Casey Anthony was the topic of conversation) I missed the breaking of this story.

Nearly three weeks ago, news broke that Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-NY) tweeted a pic of his "package" (as stated by Gloria Allred) to a woman he never met, that wasn't his wife. After a vehement denial, it all went downhill for him with some further digging by Andrew Breitbart, the release of the full frontal pic, news breaking of sexually explicit texting with minors and women across the country (not his wife), and Gloria Allred's representation of a porn star whom he sexted, Weiner was cooked. Today, after three weeks of holding on with dear life to his seat, he resigned!

Anthony Weiner is career politician, who is not only hard left, but a ham for the camera/media, just as his mentor is, set a very bad example for grown men (still cheating in my book...sorry) and showed himself to be a major hypocrite. As an educator, I have taught my students to never do what the former Congressman did, and he is 46 years old! Apparently, he did not think before he posted.

Apparently his arrogance, belief in his own power/importance and feelings of being untouchable caught up to him and it's very likely he won't be the next Mayor of New York City, as he planned.

I'm Back!!!

It was a crazy May that was quite deserving of a week in East Coast paradise, including the Most Magical Place on Earth! Since returning, I've battled a chest cold and fever, which extended my absence from "The 'Right' Solutions." That battle was won and I am now back for more commentary!

Thank you all for enduring my extended absence!
