Challenger: 27 Years Later

Today, 27 years ago, Gen X-ers remember this day as the day America lost the Space Shuttle Challenger.

In years past, I have recalled my memory of the day and also wrote about a recently discovered clip of the explosion shot from Orlando International Airport. This was the day we were supposed to be taught a lesson via space for the first time. Even after the Space Shuttle program has concluded and the remaining space shuttles are placed on display in Space Centers around the country, Gen X-ers will not soon forget January 28th.

I will close with a beautiful and moving speech that President Ronald Reagan gave on the night of the explosion of Challenger to remember Greg Jarvis, Christa McAuliffe, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Judith Resnik, Michael J. Smith, and Dick Scobee.
