Updates and Happenings

No worries, my loyal readers...I'm still here! It's been a heck of a couple of weeks since CPAC. Thankfully, I did not come down with #CPACPlague, but I did get sick after the Middlesex County (NJ) Ballot Convention; likely when I was in the crowd to meet Governor Christie. It took a while, but I'm past this and am back here to blog!

I also did a radio interview with my Georgia friend Greg Williams. We talked about CPAC, Christie and cultural differences between the North and South. Once the audio file becomes available, I will gladly post it here.

You can still find me on Save Jersey as well. My piece about New Jersey Reagan Day is pending.

Thank you all for sticking by me...I'm back!

Remembering Ronald Reagan

Over the three day weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a local Reagan Day luncheon to honor our 40th President, who would have been 102 years old this month. (Pictured above is NJ Assemblyman Jay Webber.)

Hurricane Sandy: A Documentary

Nearly one month after Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey Shore and the Northeast, I discovered the following documentary that was compiled by Charlotte Nagy, a 16 year old Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School student, who is a Rumson resident and has, her whole life, spent summers at Sea Bright.

Chris Christie, The Election and New Jersey

As Barack Obama won nationally last night, New Jerseyans knew how things were going to go. Except for incumbent Republicans in the House of Representatives winning re-election, it was a whole lot of ugly for the Garden State. Some can trace the cause of this right to good old New Jersey.

Hurricane Katrina Sandy Strikes the Northeast

This is the first time I have been able to get online for a significant amount of time since Hurricane Katrina Sandy struck the northeast last Monday, and I would like to thank my readers for sticking by me and following along on Twitter in my blogging absence.

Storm Front Coming: Sandy Bears Down on the Northeast

We've been hearing about it the past week, but it looks like Hurricane Sandy will hit land on the Jersey Shore sometime this evening, somewhere between Atlantic City and Asbury Park. The storm surge is already being felt in New Jersey and all the way up toward New York City!

Chris Christie's Double Standard "Jersey Shore" Moment

By now, we've all seen Chris Christie's Jersey Shore moment occur at Seaside Heights this week. In case you haven't here is the video.

Ramifications of Dharun Ravi's Sentence

Many in New Jersey and in the country have been following the criminal proceedings against Dharun Ravi, the former Rutgers student who was convicted for spying on/broadcasting a romantic encounter of his roommate, Tyler Clementi, with another man. Clementi committed suicide, jumping off the George Washington Bridge, after it became known the encounter was made public. The sentence came down today: 30 days in a county prison, a fine and probation.

The Gov and the Mayor: A Rather Humorous Web Video

With Newark Mayor Cory Booker in the news lately and his popularity rising among Democrats, Governor Chris Christie, who actually has a pretty good relationship with the Newark Mayor, made the following video, spoofing his recent heroics and speculation about Christie:

Whitney Houston: 1963-2012

As we have heard for the past three days, Whitney Houston passed away on Saturday at the age of 48. We don't know the cause of her death, yet many questions arise when her past 15 years is taken into account, as well as the hours before her death, and this is what has partially driven the 24/7 coverage in the wake of her death.

Two Examples of "No Fear"

For months now, I have been saying how important it is for the Republican nominee to campaign with "No Fear" in the general election against Obama. In the past two days, we have seen two examples of this. First, Allen West:

RIP Alex DeCroce

New Jerseyans mourn today the loss of Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce, who passed away late last night at the age of 75. In a long final session of the lame duck session, DeCroce collapsed in a Mens Room at the Statehouse in Trenton and died of a likely heart attack.

Alex DeCroce was a fighter for New Jersey and a leader in the Republican Party, yet was also the epitome of a Statesman. Politicians, including Chris Christie and citizens alike, have been saddened by his sudden death. On a few occasions, I have met Alex DeCroce and have been consistently moved by his kindness, his leadership abilities and his ease to meet with and speak to his constituents.

In the face of death, we celebrate life; the life of a man who has always been in the fight for New Jersey and her citizens. We pray for his family and friends as we longingly remember the positive mark which Alex DeCroce had on the great state of New Jersey.

Another Chris Christie YouTube Moment

He's baaaaaaaaaack!

Governor Chris Christie has another YouTube moment about the president and here you go:

Except for OWS and the TEA Party being of the same genesis and both parties deserving blame, I believe Christie hit the nail on the head with this one, calling out the president on his lack of leadership. We'll be seeing this go viral on an extreme level very, very soon!

Jonny Pulling a Madoff

We saw this one coming! As a Senator, Jon Corzine not only spent his own money on that particular seat, but he spent other people's money, through his liberal, big-spending, redistributionist policies. He continued this trend as Governor of New Jersey, bankrupting the state and then getting beat by Governor Christie. Now his securities firm, MF Global, is filing for bankruptcy. But there's more...

In order to keep the company's head above water, customer funds were diverted to support the company's trades. This is a big no-no and as a result of this Enron-esque cooking of the books, investigations are commencing.

It will be interesting to see how far this goes and how this is reported, knowing who is in power and knowing Corzine's political persuasion.

91st Annual Running of the Races

It's late October in New Jersey; that time of year again. On this day was the 91st Annual running of the Far Hills Race Meet, an event where close to 50,000 people converge on Moorland Farms in Far Hills, New Jersey, for not only a major Steeplechase, but for socializing, tailgating, networking and reunions. As it was partly sunny and just over 60 degrees, the weather was perfect and a good time was had by all.

In New Jersey, our top industry is tourism (classic commercial!) and this event is incentive enough to book your trips to New Jersey next October, as it's a great way to enjoy autumn in New Jersey!
