Sarah is Back

It drives her detractors crazy, it makes her supporters love her even more, but Sarah Palin has returned to speak at CPAC 2013.

Sarah Palin Must Speak at the RNC

It's no surprise I'm going to make this declaration, but Mitt Romney, his campaign and the RNC organizers must invite Sarah Palin to speak at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, giving her a major speaking role.

Palin Power in the Heartland

Nebraska had a primary yesterday and it didn't just encompass the presidential vote. In 2012, the state of Nebraska will elect a new Senator with the retirement of Ben Nelson. It is now determined that Democrat and former Governor/Senator Bob Kerrey will face Nebraska State Senator Deb Fischer. The primary race on the Republican side was seen as an upset to many, but her win can be summed up in two words: Sarah Palin.

Sarah Strikes

With Game Change premiering on March 10, there has been much talk about Julianne Moore's false portrayal of Sarah Palin and the movie being a two hour attack piece. True to her nature, Sarah Palin gives a pre-emptive strike 9 days before the movie.

Rush Limbaugh Sets the Standards

Back in 2008, we may remember Rush Limbaugh declaring "Operation Chaos," where Republicans were suggested to cross party lines in Open Primary States to vote for Hillary to keep the primary going. As I remember, Democrats screamed foul over this, even attempting to indict Rush Limbaugh for voter fraud.

Sarah at CPAC!

Before I get into her speech, that's right! I met her (that's a good friend of mine in the middle) at CPAC! A major reason I headed down this year, Sarah Palin keynoted this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (on her birthday) and as you will see from my video, she rocked the house!

Stepping Away

What had seemed inevitable, Sarah Palin decided against a run in 2012. This broke during Mark Levin's radio show on October 5. She was effective at jazzing the media, forcing them into a "will she or won't she" game, but in the end, Palin felt she could be most effective on the sidelines, as opposed to in an office. While I understand her reasoning, I am very disappointed that she stepped out, as unlike many in my party, I believe she would have been a formidable candidate as she is the most consistent Conservative out there and looking at recent history, not only do Conservatives win, but they win by a couple of touchdowns. Her endorsement will matter to Republicans and members of the TEA Party.

Being pushed by the majority of GOP donors, Chris Christie has once and for all, decided that he will not run in 2012. This was also predictable, as for a while, he had been against running and only re-examined the choice at the behest of these donors. Truth be told, he may not have won the primary, but in the end, he will politically benefit, as this further ensures his re-election as New Jersey Governor in 2013, something that may not have been cemented, had he run and been defeated.

Hypocrisy in Action

This weekend, MSNBC Executive and Producer Tammy Haddad, hosted a brunch in Washington DC, leading up to the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. One special guest at this brunch was Sarah Palin, who garnered much attention from reporters and guests alike.

The hypocrisy in action is cited in an article about her appearance, as the reporters and pundits who badger her and run her into the mud every day wanted to pose in a picture with her. Personally, if that were me, I wonder if I could go along and pose in photographs with people who hate me, but Sarah Palin likely did, and this is more evidence that she is a class act!

The "No-Fear" Republicans

In talking with friends, especially those on my side of the aisle, it may be early, but many are a little pessimistic going into the 2012 Election Cycle when looking at the current pool of candidates.

Two who have been making waves in the past months, Donald Trump and Sarah Palin, may or may not run, but they are making waves by showing Americans that they have no fear!

Since the talk began that Donald Trump may run for the presidency, his rhetoric and comments have sparked much interest in the Republican Party; so much so that he has risen to the top in terms of prospective 2012 Republican candidate approval ratings. Trump may not be perfect and may need to answer a lot of questions about the legitimacy of his stated conservatism, yet he has mainstreamed the birther issue and has given Americans an additional perspective on how this administration seems economically challenged. As long as he has been in the public eye, Donald Trump speaks his mind and he is doing so regarding the performance of this President.

When she came on the national scene in 2008, Sarah Palin has consistently shown she has no fear, whether answering her critics, challenging her opponents or challenging the developed norms of a prospective presidential candidate. Her strength was again on stage this weekend in a stump speech given in Madison, Wisconsin. Most notable is that she challenged the GOP Leadership to step up and take on the President, as she, like me, believes they did not in this recent budget debate. Sarah Palin speaks her mind, does not apologize for it and gains much respect among her supporters for that.

It remains to be seen whether Trump or Palin will run in 2012, (I do not believe either will) but it is my hope these individuals will inspire the others in the field to show no-fear when standing up for and articulating conservative principles. Republican voters will gain further optimism if the candidates who do end up running, follow the lead of Donald Trump and Sarah Palin, and, as Sharron Angle said, "man up!"

The UN Adopts Sarah Palin's Idea

One of the first to speak out about Gaddafi in Libya was Sarah Palin, where she called for an end to Gaddafi's reign, as well as the enactment of a No-Fly Zone, to protect those protesting against Gaddafi. For nearly one month, America dithered and the president was absent, punting it off to the UN, France and Great Britain.

This week, the UN Security Council voted to enact a No-Fly Zone in Libya, and today, the United States fired Tomahawk missiles into Libya to enforce the No-Fly Zone. While we hope this action meets its objectives, there is some question about whether this was too little, too late, along with the fact that there has been no action by the American government to find/meet with the leader(s) of the Libyan opposition who may take power and form a new government, if Gaddafi is to be overthrown.

As has been said before, Gaddafi is a bad guy and needs to go, yet with a power vacuum in the opposition, as well as a lack of history of democratic government in Libya, the people are not guaranteed freedom under a new government and there is a big uncertainty of what will be next if Gaddafi is killed, as that's the only way he will leave power.

Guts

In perusing the news today, I came across an excellent article in the Wall Street Journal by Brian Carney. In this article, he reflects on his interview with notable historian, Paul Johnson.

Most noteworthy to me, in this interview, are his comments on Sarah Palin. Here is the quote from the article:
"She's got courage. That's very important in politics. You can have all the right ideas and the ability to express them. But if you haven't got guts, if you haven't got courage the way Margaret Thatcher had courage—and [Ronald] Reagan, come to think of it. Your last president had courage too—if you haven't got courage, all the other virtues are no good at all. It's the central virtue."
When I look at Sarah Palin, I fully agree with his assessment. This woman has taken an absolute POUNDING by the media, the left and some on the right. Despite that, she keeps coming back, gaining popularity and new supporters, while standing by her principles. If some in politics were hammered the way she has been, I wonder if they would be able to get out of bed in the morning and keep going in the same direction. Sarah Palin keeps going, she doesn't care about her critics and she rises above. That not only takes character, but that takes guts! This speaks volumes of how she has developed her ideology, how she has led in Alaska and will lead, if she were to be elected president.

Johnson puts her up with the greats of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, two leaders who stood by their principles, while dodging criticism (and bullets) yet had the guts and the courage to go on. Their views may have been unpopular by some, but they did not deviate in working to achieve their goal. Those guts, that courage, allowed Thatcher and Reagan (and Pope John Paul II) to work cooperatively, setting the course as strong leaders, to bring an end to the Soviet Union and Communism in Eastern Europe. Their guts, courage and resolve in leadership also inspired many in my generation, Generation X, to rise up as leaders, and I believe we will continue with this trend, seeing more rise up in the years to come and it will be because of the eventually minted 9-11 Generation, that America will survive.

Despite the view of some in the Republican Party questioning her electability, Sarah Palin has an excellent shot at winning the primary, if she wants it. She is the most consistent conservative of those running, has executive experience, can face and rise above the pressure and criticisms of the job, and as Paul Johnson believes, she has the guts to keep going!

Happy Birthday, Sarah

"The 'Right' Solutions" would like to take a moment out of this very busy news day to wish Sarah Palin a Happy 47th Birthday and many more happy and healthy birthdays to come!

In the years she has been on the national scene, Sarah Palin has withstood some of the dirtiest and nastiest smears from those on the left (and the right) and continues to rise above them, showing herself to be a strong, competent politician; one of the most consistent Conservatives who may be running in 2012. I am still saddened to see that she has not been given the proper credit for pulling McCain's numbers up on Election Night 2008, preventing him from becoming the next Walter Mondale or Barry Goldwater in terms of electoral defeats.

On the bright side, I am pleased to see fellow Gen-X Conservatives, such as Jedediah Bila, support her (Bila's comments at 9:06), and I'm sure we'll see the number of supporters grow in years to come, especially if Sarah runs.

Thank you, Sarah Palin, for what you do, and here's to many more years fighting the Conservative fight for the American people!
