Back in 2008, we may remember Rush Limbaugh declaring "Operation Chaos," where Republicans were suggested to cross party lines in Open Primary States to vote for Hillary to keep the primary going. As I remember, Democrats screamed foul over this, even attempting to indict Rush Limbaugh for voter fraud.
Four years later, outrage be damned. Daily Kos founder Markos Moulistas is calling for a similar operation, where Democrats should cross party lines in Open Primary states and vote for Rick Santorum over Mitt Romney, making the argument an elongated primary process strengthens Obama.
I do not accept that premise, and instead, agree with Sarah Palin when she says the vetting and primary process should continue, as competition will strengthen the eventual nominee, which she stated, below, at CPAC.
My candidate, Newt Gingrich, is still in this as well, and even if the Daily Kos founder did not make this declaration, the primary is still anyone's game. Furthermore, Moulistas claims Santorum to be a weak candidate. Keep believing that, Marcos, and be careful what you wish for, as an analysis of Presidential electoral history since 1968 proves that the Republican who runs as a Conservative wins (Nixon 1968 and 1972, Reagan 1980 and 1984, George HW Bush 1988, George W. Bush 2000 and 2004); and the same will be true in 2012, running against an incumbent president who is running from his record.
With "winner take all" not occurring until April, this will continue, I welcome it and again, Rush Limbaugh is the trendsetter for not only the right, but the left! In the end, Republicans will have a stronger candidate and hopefully, a more conservative candidate, so in the words of Lt. Col./Congresman Allen West, "Bring it on!"
