Time for a Disney Break: Epcot!
With the sad stories and rehash of upsetting news this week, I figure it's time to take a break from it all, and where else do I go?!? That's right: Disney!
From a very young age, I have been visiting the Walt Disney World resort and after all the years and all the visits, I have to tell you that my favorite place on the Walt Disney World Resort is EPCOT! Known as the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, it was the "compromise plan" of what Walt Disney wished to create. Before Walt's death, he spoke of a living breathing city that he hoped to build which would address and correct many of the social ills he observed in American society. After his death, the theme park was planned to exhibit the and embody the ideas and technology Disney wished to have in his planned city. As a result of not being able to come up with a final plan, the Imagineers merged their plans of a park to exhibit technology, science and ideas (Future World) with that of a theme of an International celebration of food, customs and culture (World Showcase). It is quite similar to a Worlds Fair or Expo, and while it's never-ending, it's always changing!
From the iconic Spaceship Earth to the awe-inspiring American Adventure, to the thrills of Test Track (Re-Imagineering complete after Thanksgiving) and Soarin, as well as the classics in Living with the Land and Universe of Energy, Epcot has something for everyone and is and will always be not only my favorite Disney theme park, but my favorite theme park I've ever visited! Also, some of the best dining options at Disney and the best nighttime spectacular in Illuminations: Reflections of Earth can be found here!
With Epcot, "Every Person Comes Out Tired," but it will be a memorable experience and should be a party of your itinerary if you find yourself in Central Florida!
